Recreational Pilots Licence Forsyth Aviation holds an exemption issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) that allows our students to fly in controlled airspace with a Recreational Licence, something that other schools may not be able to offer. There is however a CASA requirement that students hold a CASA Private Pilots Licence Medical certificate (Class 2).
Forsyth Aviation offers a Trial Instructional Flight (TIF) which allows us to give first timers their first flight experience lasting around 30mins. The TIF is a great way to get to meet the instructor and to tryout the aircraft without having to commit
Flight training in a recreational aircraft can be commenced at 15 years of age, simply call or come into Forsyth Aviation to learn about applying for your Student Certificate. You can also log on to Recreation Aviation Australia (RAAus)web site at www.raa.asn.au for information on recreational flying.
How many hours? The minimum hours required for the Pilot Certificate is 20hrs however to gain Cross country and Passenger carrying privileges will require about another 15 hrs
Converting RA-Aus to Private Pilots Licence All training is conducted by CASA rated instructors to the same syllabus as the Private Licence with the exception of the basic instrument flight (IF) component. So when you want to start flying the bigger aircraft, you will only be required to complete the 2 hours of IF, become competent in the Cessna or Piper aircraft and pass a written CASA exam and practical flight test with the Chief Flying Instructor (CFI). This process will probably take around 5 hours and is all conducted in house. Once completed you will then hold dual licences RAA and CASA .
